The Pre-Production of this started all the way back in May this year and it is now finished.
This film was created as a homage to early epic Hollywood cinema; films such as: Ben-Hur (1959) and How The West Was Won (1962). At White Tingle we feel that a revival of these ‘super-wide’ aspect ratios with epic scale is imminent due to the influx of people visiting the cinema; not to watch the latest film but for the experience.
To achieve this style/scale we shot the film in the Ultra-Panavision 2.76:1 aspect ratio and styled the colours as close as digitally possible with early ‘glorious’ Technicolor pictures. For this we had to choose specific locations, props and costumes that would have looked good in Technicolor – this includes Blues, Reds and Yellows. As processes such as 3-strip Technicolor were achieved by cementing three strips of film on top of each other, we had to be mindful of shadows in the same way a 50’s/60’s Lighting Engineer would.
The final cost of this film is under £60, which I could not be more proud of. A lot of people gave there time freely for this picture and for that I am extremely grateful. This is the first of other films to come, so support the cause and feel free to like and share on social medias.
I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.
